LONG NIGHTS MOON…full moon…..6th December 2014, year of the horse……

To the Cherokee, December’s full moon is the Snow Moon. In southern regions, rare snowfall, precious rain, occurs sometimes at this time of year. The Choctaw refer to the full moon in December as the Peach Moon, to the Dakota Sioux, it is simply the twelfth moon.
December marks the onset of winter, the world turns dark and cold. Plants have gone dormant, trees stand bare of leaves……..growth has stopped for a while, yet hope lives on!
Rituals in December become very important, the lighting of candles and fires, the adding of lights to the inside of the home, the bringing of warmth, the adding of red berries and evergreens. Meditate on the horse year, honour death and deep peace of sleep as natural parts of the cycle of life, along with new growth to come. Admire the splendour of the winter sun, ‘freeze’ bad habits and ways, let them fall away. Repeat anything not done properly in the Spring of 2014, and this time focus on getting it done properly, like you should have done the first time.
December brings hope of new pathways, new agreements, contracts, kisses and handshakes…..hugs and hurrahs, once the full moon passes.
